HOT, HOT, HOT!
Wow...it is so hot! it's like reverse cabin fever. I don't even want to go outside, because the second I do...I start sweating!! John and I were spoiled on our trip to NY. We had great weather, I think the hottest it got was maybe 90 degrees (which is hot for NY). We come back here, and we're drenched in sweat before getting into the car.

Our week in NY
John and I have been in upstate NY for a little over a week now, and it's been really nice. We've had a lot of chances to catch up with old friends, and spend time with family too. Each day/night has been different. We're going to see The Dark Night (Batman) with some friends tonight, and we are SO excited! We loved the last one, and heard great reviews about this movie.
I've been reading a great book lately. I started it a few weeks ago, and there have been interruptions which keep me from finishing it. It's called 'Having a Mary Spirit' by Joanna Weaver. The subtitle is 'Allowing God to change us from the inside out...' It draws from the stories of the biblical Marys (Mary, mother of Jesus; Mary, sister of Martha; and Mary Magdalene) and others who experiences with God transformed their lives. It's definitely the kind of book that makes you think about life, faith, and your current circumstances. Every time I sit down to read it, I learn something new about God's love for me, and how I can better handle situations. The book is definitely written for women, but John has read parts of it, and has been able to apply it to his life as well.
We are driving back home to VA tomorrow (Saturday). I'm excited to come back home to friends, and our own house. I'll be posting pictures from our NY trip in a few days. We'll catch up with everyone soon...

Road trip...
John and I are in NY right now, visiting family and friends for a little over a week! We drove up yesterday, (Thursday) and took Kaya with us. This was her first long road trip. We've taken her on three, four hour drives before, but this trip to NY took ten hours! She was a champ, I was so proud of her. As many of you know, she use to get car sick, and vomit everywhere. Talk about nasty! This trip was not bad at all, she did great! The next few days are pretty chill for us. We'll be coming back home to VA Saturday, July 19. More to come...

Suumer is for bbq-ing

I love summer for so many reasons, but one of them is because you get to have friends over for bbqs. The days are longer, and people are more likely to come out after work to hang out. John and I got to do two of our favorite things both in one night: eat great food, and hang out with great people!! After we ate, we all played Taboo (one of my favorite games!), and sadly the guys won. :( As usual, John loves his "bros".
We hope there are many more Dorr summer bbqs to be had!

John's business trip to Germany

John had the chance to go to Germany on business from June 23-July 3. I couldn't go because my passport still had my maiden name on it. The earliest rush the post office could do was three weeks, and he was leaving in just a week. I wish I could have gone, he took some beautiful pictures. He also got to go to Prauge, and these are the pictures from there. Check them out...

The beginning
Hey everyone!
John and I decided to start a blog, as a way to update people on our ever changing crazy lives! It seems like a lot of our conversations with family and friends lately have been centered around our plans for the future, and where life is taking us.
As many of you know, we are waiting to hear about the next move for John's job. For the last six months or so, John has been traveling all over the country to work at different hospitals, since there is no hospital for him to work at where we are living in Virginia. Both of us agreed that we'd do this temporarily, and then come the summer, make a decision to move. It looks like the following places are available for us to move to: Tulsa, OK, Austin, TX, Houston, TX, Albequerque, NM, and Dallas, TX. We think we'd like to move to either Tulsa, or Austin. We've heard great things about both cities. We'll see...
As for me, I have the summer off since I'm a teacher...WA-HOO! I've been enjoying reading, watching movies, getting together with friends, and relaxing. The past few summers I've taught summer school, as well as tutored, so I didn't have a relaxing summer like most teachers. This summer has been great though.
John and I are getting ready to head to NY to visit some family and friends. We don't normally get to go to NY together other than over Christmas, which is normally crazy busy. We are both really looking forward to getting away for a little bit to hang out with some old friends.
More to come...
