Game Night

We hosted game night at our house last, and it was so much fun!

Angela and I thought of the idea about three weeks ago when the four of us were having a great time playing games after dinner together, and though how much more fun it would be with a big group of people!

There were about 16-18 people who came, and hung out in different rooms playing games. I got a few pictures from the evening.

I think I want to have another one maybe sometime in September before all these babies arrive!

When it rains...it pours

Oh my goodness, tonight was quite the night!

After tutoring, I decided that since I was already out, I'd run a few errands all within the same area. It started pouring, and I mean puring halfway through me running errands. I really didn't want to drive home on 64, because I could barely see three feet ahead of me, so I decided to pull into Hancock Fabrics, and look around for fabric for Avery's curtains.

I sat in the car for a few minutes, deliberating on whether or not I was brave enough to get out in the horrible rain. I told myself to just get over it, it's just water, and ran from my car to the front door of the store. Right as I was about to run into the store, I feel and caught myself before falling on my 7 month belly! It happened so quickly, but I remember putting my arms out to catch myself, and landed like a baseball player sliding into base- yikes!

I got myself up, and walked into the store looking, and feeling like a drowned rat! I was ok, until someone asked me if I was ok...then the waterworks started...and didn't stop! I called John to see if he could come pick me up, and drive me home, but he was at the gym and didn't answer. I stood in the store, sore and feeling really uncomfortable from the fall, crying all by myself (feel sorry for me yet? haha!) I decided to call the doctor, and she said I could go to the hospital, but unless there was bleeding, I would be ok. I decided it wasn't serious enough to go to the hospital, and just waited in the store for John to call. I could not get a hold of myself- and just kept crying! Probably a mix of pain, hormones, and frustration.

John finally called me after getting out of the gym, and told me he'd be there right away (it's only like 5 minutes down the road). Because of the horrible rain, it ended up taking him about 35 minutes. When he pulled into the parking lot, he drove through a really shallow part, and his car got stuck, and flooded! It wouldn't start, and John was stuck in 3 feet deep water- double yikes!

He called AAA, and they said they'd be there as soon as they could. I imagine there were a lot of calls going through to AAA because of the flooding. He walked out of the car very unhappy looking, and while walking his flip flops floated away- triple yikes! I couldn't stop laughing...which was actually really painful!

We decided to grab dinner across the street while waiting for AAA. We laughed a lot about the situation, because in actuality- it was hilarious. Both of us took turns bursting out into spontaneous laughter while eating dinner. Stuff like this seems to only happen to us!

Soooo, the story ends with AAA towing John's car home, me with a really sore belly, side, and back, and the car not starting. Boy, oh, boy!

I am so thankful for a husband who can laugh through situations like this, and make the best of it!

28 weeks (7 months!!!)

This week marks 28 weeks, 7 months along! OH MY GOODNESS! I really can't believe there's about twelve weeks left until we meet Avery!


I've noticed a lot more 'violent' movement this past week. A whole lot of head and butt butting, and to the point of it becoming a little uncomfortable. I know I still have a while left of this, and that her movements will only get stronger- I say BRING IT ON LITTLE GIRL!

The second I find myself about to complain about how uncomfortable it can be sometimes when she moves around- I stop myself! How long have I waited for this movement, and what all this movement means...a healthy baby?!

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. Spray paint, $1 frames, and ribbon

When I found out we were having a girl, I started to think about how I wanted her room to look, and what kind of 'feel' I wanted it to have. I'm not really a pink person, so I knew early on that I didn't want to have the walls be pink, but instead to paint the walls a neutral color- tan/caramel, and then use pink and other colors as accents. Her bedding is a mix of pink, yellow, tan, green, blue, and chocolate brown...I know, sounds crazy but it's precious! (Thanks Darleen and Amber for buying it for us!)

I decided I wanted to spray paint picture frames of all different sizes, and hang them from different colored ribbon. That way, color will come from the frames, and not from the wall itself.

It was a really simple project, and I am SO happy with how they turned out! I got a bunch of crappy frames from the dollar store, spray painted them, and hot glued ribbon to the back of the frame to add some color. So simple, and something I think will look adorable in her room.

Reeves + Dinner + Games = Awesomeness

We love David and Angela Reeves! We've been friends with David for about four years now, and met Angela when they started dating a little over two years ago...they are great! We got together with them tonight for dinner at our house, and games to follow. Every time we hang out with them, we laugh and realize we're blessed with great friends!

Jack Johnson Concert

We had a great time last night with friends at the Jack Johnson concert in Va Beach! I've been wanting to see him in concert for years, and when we heard he was coming to town, we knew we just had to be there! We kind of made it a 5 year anniversary gift to each other, and had fun with friends that evening too!

26 weeks

I'm posting this a day early- oh well. I'm 26 weeks along, 6 1/2 months- wow! Everything has been going really week so far and I cannot complain! The baby moves all the time, and I've noticed that when I sit or lay in certain positions, it causes her to move more. John gets to feel her a lot, which is really neat too! Sleeping has become a little uncomfortable because I find myself changing sides and peeing a million times a night. I tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs which a lot of people suggest, but I've found it more annoying than anything else. I feel so blessed to be pregnant, and I know that after she's born I'll actually miss these little 'annoyances'. My next appointment is in two weeks, and I'll be 7 months along then...holy cow!

Anniversary Date

John and I went out to lunch at a new Italian restaurant in town today for our 5 year anniversary, and it was great! We gave each other our cards after we ordered, and couldn't believe that we got each other the same cards (inside and out), except for the cover looking a little different! What are the odds?! We're going to have dinner at home tonight, and go for a walk on the beach after dinner...and probably grab some ice cream or something. It was fun dressing up a little bit for a hot date :)

I am so blessed with an amazing husband! He is loving, hilarious, motivated, committed, and humble! In many ways, fives years has absolutely flown by! A lot has happened over the last five years: three miscarriages, two moves, new jobs, our pregnancy now with Avery, and much more- but I really can not imagine going through it with anyone else! I try really hard to not take for granted the amazing relationship and friendship I have with John. Thank you John for adding so much
