NY Meatloaf

Growing up, I loved watching my mom's hands when she made meatloaf...call me a weirdo...but it was fun!

The meatloaf was good...nothing out of this world, but the prep of mushing all of the ingredients (raw meat, raw egg...) was fun for me. My beautiful mom, all prim and proper with her hands covered in raw beef and dripping egg...there was something kinda cool about it!

So...this one's for you...my beautiful NY Mama.

Broccoli

John bought some frozen vegetables a few weeks ago at Food Lion, and came home with a few bags of this specific frozen broccoli. Now, to everyone else this may be normal, but I have never seen Steam - In - Bags before. It's awesome! You don't have to cook it on the stove top and wait for it to be the perfect 'tenderness' if you will. It cooks in this package, in the microwave for 4-5 minutes and comes out perfect! It's not too hard, not too mushy...and there's no pot...hence no cleaning! Yah! I know, I know...cheap thrills.

Good weekend with even better friends

We spent the weekend with our best friends Matt & Katey Toller. Every time we hang out with them, the time is spent laughing, and having great conversation. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. We are also their daughter's godparents...which is SUCH an honor! Here are a few pictures from our DOLLER (Dorr/Toller) slumber party weekend!

A sign perhaps...??

I was in the office last night, when John told me from the kitchen that we got diapers in the mail. I was a little confused, since this has never happened before. He assured me he was serious. Here is how the conversation went:

John: "Hey Leah! I think 2010 is the year of our baby!"

Leah: "Why?"

John: "Because we got diapers in the mail...and I'm totally serious!"

Hey...we'll take whatever we can get! Maybe this is a 'sign'. John and I don't really believe in 'signs', but maybe a foreshadowing if you will.

I think I'm still dethawing...

I've been not looking forward to this day since I left my classroom on Tuesday, December 22nd. Now for all of you who are not teachers, you probably think Winter Break is a luxury...nah...it's a necessity!

I made a nice home cooked meal last night, with LOTS of left-overs for this week's lunches. I anticipated a busy week of catching up after a week and a half of no school. I woke up this morning with a really good attitude, and positive mindset. 'It's going to be a great day!'

Today I returned to work, and to a veryyyyyyyyy coooooooooold classroom! The thermostat showed 48 degrees in my classroom. I quickly put my jacket back on and visited a few other classrooms to see if they were experiencing the same thing. They sure were...the heat was broken in the building! There was a Kindergarten classroom down the hall, and their thermostat was at 40 degrees!!!!

What a horrible way to return to work! They were able to get the heat working again, and now my students and myself are slowly de-thawing...but it's been a pretty rough morning!
