Big changes coming

John and I are officially moving to West Virginia! John actually starts there full time on October 6th. He'll be working four days a week, with a three day weekend here until I move to WV. I'll be moving there within a month of him, my last day at work is Friday, October 31st. I wouldn't have ever picked to move to WV, but there are actually a few things that I'm really excited about moving there. It will be a big change for John and I, but we're excited for this next chapter in our lives. We'll most likely only be in WV for a year, maybe two...so this isn't a permanent move. If any of you like to ski...you know where to come...visit the Dorr's in WV!!

Thankful for my class

I am blessed with a great class this year! I didn't know if I wanted to teach 1st grade after the challenging year I had last year. I am so thankful that I stuck with it, I have an incredible class! We are doing a lot of fun, meaningful, and creative activities. Here is a picture of them being goofy.

Ambre's surprise shower

The boys had to eat different kinds of melted chocolate out of a diaper. Yummm!

They were such good sports!

John and Chuck

Heidi, Lindsay, and I threw Ambre a surprise baby shower on Saturday! We'd been planning it for the last six weeks or so, and all worried that we wouldn't be able to pull it off...we did!

My Mom's 60th Surprise B-day Party!!

John and I flew up for my mom's 60th b-day this past weekend, and had a great time. My whole family worked together to pull off a surprise party for her...she had NO idea! We invited 30 of her closest friends, and the house was packed with people who loved my mother. Here are some pictures. If you click on the picture, it will enlarge.

The whole family!

My mom's two best friends.

Mom got a little emotional.

We crowned her princess for the day.

Some of the gang.
Her pretty cake.

Back to school!!

Another year has started, and I am so thankful so far for my first grade students! They are so cute, AND well behaved! The first day of school, and first week for that matter, is hard for everyone because there are a lot of new things to be learned. New classroom, new friends, new teacher, new rules, new books, new everything! My class is doing so well, and I am so excited for the next few months to unfold. I can't wait to do fun crafts with them, they seem like a crafty bunch!

Visit my class on the web sometime! (Just clickon 'Mrs. Dorr' for our class page.)

Ground Breaking Celebration at Waters Edge

People were greeted by a band.
Meredith and I rockin' our shirts!

They had the little kids help break ground with shovels. It was so cute!

Ground breaking.

Stu was excited!

On Sunday, August 31st, we broke ground on our new land! It was an exciting event that many of us have been waiting for. The church rented a massive tent so that the service could happen rain or shine. After the church service, we had a baptism and broke ground. There were close to a thousand people who came to celebrate, and it was great to be part of this church community.

If you click on the picture, it will enlarge so you can see it better.
